The month of Ashadh is very special in terms of fasts and festivals. Fasting starts as soon as this month begins. According to the Vedic calendar, 14 major fasts and festivals come in the month of Ashadh. These include major fasts and festivals like Gupt Navratri, Jagannath Rath Yatra along with Devshayani Ekadashi. This month is considered very special for the worship of Lord Vishnu, the creator of the world.
Kashi's astrologer Pandit Sanjay Upadhyay told that Ashadh month is starting from 23 June. Which will continue till 21 July 2024. Ashadh month is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Vishnu. Devshayani Ekadashi comes in this month. Since then Lord Vishnu sleeps in Kshirsagar for four months. In such a situation, no auspicious work is done in these four months.
