Islamabad, June 17 (HS). Five police personnel lost their lives in a road accident in Pakistan this morning. The accident took place on the Quetta-Karachi highway near Lasbela in Balochistan. Police officials say that a car hit a police van. Due to this the police van overturned. Five policemen died in the accident, while two others were injured.
According to Lasbela SSP Captain (retd) Naveed Alam, the accident took place in Uthal police station area. Three policemen died on the spot while two others succumbed on the way to hospital. The injured were initially rushed to Uthal District Headquarters Hospital. The bodies of the deceased policemen have been sent to their hometowns. The unidentified car that hit the police van is being searched for.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti expressed grief over the death of the policemen. He said that the provincial government stands with the victim families in this hour of grief. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. Meanwhile, at least three policemen were injured in a hand grenade attack on a police vehicle in Karachi's Sachal area.
