Varanasi, June 15 (HS). The Municipal Corporation administration has put in full effort to clean the drains and sewers in the city before the monsoons. On Saturday, Mayor Ashok Tiwari and Municipal Commissioner Akshat Verma together conducted a field inspection of the drain cleaning work in several parts of the city.
During this time, the drain in front of Birdopur, Kailash Math, Doctor Usha Gupta Hospital in Mahmoorganj was found completely blocked. The Mayor and Municipal Commissioner directed the Municipal Health Officer to clean the drain. Similarly, during inspection, the sewer chamber on the road near Kailash Math was found overflowing. The road was also found sunken due to this. The regional councilor himself complained about this. The Mayor laid special emphasis on cleaning the sewer chamber and labeling the road.
During inspection, the Municipal Commissioner directed the Municipal Health Officer to take action after seeing animal husbandry and cow dung being thrown in the drain on the east right of Kailash Math near Madhuban Enclave. The road has been dug up to repair water leakage near Sudamapur. Sewer water was found overflowing in the pit. This pit has been dug and left for 15 days.
The mayor reprimanded the executive engineer of Jalkal for negligence in work. Similarly, in Sudamapur, after the repair work of sewer leakage on the corner of the street next to the residence of city's southern MLA Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, the Chowka Patthar was not repaired. The Municipal Commissioner directed the General Manager of Jalkal to get it repaired immediately.
During this, Chief Engineer, General Manager, Executive Engineer, Junior Engineer- Water Supply, City Health Officer etc. officers were also present.
