Kanpur, June 15 (HS). Severe heat and heat wave are prevailing in Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department says that monsoon activities will intensify in Uttar Pradesh from June 20. This has increased the possibility of drizzle and light rain in the Terai regions. Along with this, the movement of clouds will increase in Kanpur division, due to which people can get some relief from the scorching heat.
Dr. SN Sunil Pandey, Meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural Technology University, said on Saturday that light to moderate rain is expected in parts of southern Chhattisgarh, southern Odisha, Assam and Telangana and heavy rain at some places during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain is expected in Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, Northeast India, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and coastal Karnataka. Light rain may occur in southwestern Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, parts of southern Gujarat, southeastern Rajasthan, northern Chhattisgarh, Rayalaseema, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Western Himalayas. Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions may persist in entire Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand including Kanpur division. Heat wave conditions may persist in some areas of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu division, eastern Madhya Pradesh and northern Chhattisgarh. Night weather is likely to remain hot in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh including Kanpur division.
He informed that the maximum temperature in Kanpur was recorded at 45.0 and the minimum temperature at 31.5 degree Celsius. The relative humidity in the morning was 36 and the relative humidity in the afternoon was 18 percent. The wind direction was north-west with an average speed of 10.1 km per hour. According to the weather forecast, Kanpur is likely to remain lightly cloudy in the next five days but there is no possibility of rain. The day and night temperatures are likely to remain above normal. Along with this, heat wave and hot conditions will continue in Kanpur division.
