Varanasi, June 15 (HS). On Mahesh Navami on Saturday, the Maheshwari community took out a huge Kalash Shobha Yatra from Dashashwamedh Ghat. Women and men of the community participated in the Kalash Yatra in traditional attire.
People participating in the procession filled the pitcher with Ganga water and placed it on their heads and reached Baba Vishwanath's court. There they performed Rudrabhishek and Jalabhishek of Baba as per the rituals. As per the pre-decided program, first of all the Brahmins on the Ghat put Ganga water, milk and flowers in the pitcher and praised Lord Mahesh. After this, people of the society reached Baba's court chanting Har-Har Mahadev, Om Namah Shivay, Har-Har Bam-Bam etc.
In the procession, men were seen in kurta pyjama and women in saffron saree. Administrative head of the program and publicity minister of the council Gaurav Rathi said that Maheshwari community has created its unique identity in the country and the world through its work. Maheshwari clan was born on this day. Mahesh Navami festival was celebrated in the houses of the community.
