Jaunpur, June 13 (HS). A middle aged man committed suicide by hanging himself in Madiyahun police station area. When the family came to know about this on Thursday, there was an uproar. Police reached the spot after getting the information and took the body in their custody and started investigation.
50-year-old Mumtaz, a resident of Mirdha Mohalla of Madiyahun Kotwali police station area, went to sleep on a platform 500 meters away from his house after dinner on Wednesday. When he did not return till late on Thursday morning, his wife Jamila Khatoon went to see him. The wife opened the latch inside by putting her hand through the mesh made in the gate from outside and when she reached the room, she saw the body of her husband Mumtaz hanging from a noose. Seeing this, she screamed. Hearing the sound, people gathered nearby and the police was informed.
The deceased's wife said that there was no dispute with anyone in the house. She is unable to understand why her husband committed suicide. The deceased has three daughters and two sons. One son is in Saudi and the other lives in Mumbai. Two daughters are married and one daughter is yet to be married.
Upon receiving the information, the Madiyahun police took down the body hanging from the gutter, took it into their custody, sent it for postmortem and started investigation.
