2500 deaths in six months due to climate change, loss of Rs 3.43 lakh crore, shocking report

Climate change: So far this year, 2500 people have lost their lives due to climate change. Along with this, there has been a loss of $ 41 billion (Rs 3.43 lakh crores). From time to time, the weather has been disrupted even in those countries where there is a possibility of seasonal changes. Due to which there is a loss of millions of crores. According to a report released by UK-based NGO Christian Aid, bad weather, natural disasters in the last six months are the result of climate change. These estimates have been released after the International Climate Talk (COP28) in Dubai last December.

According to the NGO, even after COP28, there has been no significant progress in the UAE in phasing out fossil fuels and in supporting and assisting poor countries in coping with climate-induced natural disasters. “Figures show that the climate crisis continues to worsen,” it said in the second week of Climate Talks in Germany.

Appeal to rich countries to allocate more funds

“Rich countries are most responsible for greenhouse gas emissions,” said Christian Aid, an NGO official. “These rich countries should help mitigate the effects of climate change and reduce the impacts in other countries. They should increase their funding in this regard.” At COP28, it was agreed to allocate funds to compensate for the losses suffered by poor countries due to climate change events.

Massive loss of life due to heat in India

According to environmentalist Dr. Seema Javed, heat causes large scale deaths in India. Economic losses due to climate change in an agricultural country have also increased manifold. Which has not yet been evaluated, but it affects the performance of the people. The risk of floods is also increasing in the Gulf regions due to climate change. According to the report, at least 214 people have died due to floods in South and South-West Asia and the United Arab Emirates alone has suffered losses of $ 850 million. The report said that the combined heat wave in West, South and Southeast Asia killed more than 1,500 people in Myanmar alone, while heat-related deaths were reported very little.

If we are not careful even now, we will be destroyed: Paoli

Mariana Paoli, the global advocacy head of the organization, says that if we do not take precautions now, the situation will worsen and the survey will be destroyed. At present, the whole world is not working seriously in this direction, due to which we may have to suffer the consequences. There is a demand to take serious steps for this. Especially for those countries which are economically weak and are more affected by crises.

damage is expected to be high

According to the report, climate change has caused losses of $41 billion. But this is based on insurance. These figures do not fully cover the cost of loss of human life due to disasters. Floods in Brazil killed at least 169 people and caused economic losses of at least seven billion dollars.
