'Hitman' created history in the very first over against Pakistan, became the first batsman in the world to achieve this feat

T20 World Cup 2024: Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma created a new history during the India-Pakistan match on June 9. Pakistan's fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi became the first batsman in the world to hit a six in the first over of a T20 match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

The T20 World Cup 2024 match was played between India and Pakistan on 9 June. Babar Azam won the toss and gave India the opportunity to bat first. In the first over, Rohit Sharma faced Shaheen Shah Afridi. Rohit Sharma created history on the third ball of this over. In T20, Shaheen hit a brilliant six in the very first over of Shah Afridi and registered a unique record in his name.

Till date, no batsman had hit a six in Shaheen Afridi's first over in T20, but Rohit Sharma did what no one could do. Rohit hit a brilliant six which was easily flicked to deep square leg. The entire stadium was thrilled to see this shot of Rohit.

This was the first time in Shaheen Afridi's 68 T20 matches that a batsman hit a six in the first over. Rohit Sharma is the first batsman to hit a six in Shaheen Afridi's first over in ODIs. In the Super-4 match of Asia Cup 2023, Rohit achieved this feat by hitting a six after playing five dot balls.
