Champawat, June 09 (HS). Vikas Shah has won the election for the post of president of the Champawat city unit of the Provincial Industry Trade Delegation. He defeated his rival Mukesh Giri Baba by a huge margin of 250 votes.
Chief Election Officer Diwan Singh Bohra and Election Officer Basant Singh Tadagi announced the results. Voting took place from 8 am to 3 pm on Sunday. Counting of votes began immediately after voting at Shiva Residency located at Champawat GIC Tiraha.
Election observer Advocate Shankar Dutt Pandey said that the election was conducted in a fair and peaceful manner. Vikas Shah got 419 votes and Mukesh Giri got 169 votes for the post of Vyapar Mandal President. Out of a total of 652 voters, 589 took part in the voting. There was no need for voting for any post except the president. Harish Chandra Samta for the post of General Secretary, Kamaldeep Tiwari for the post of Vice President and Laxman Singh Pujari for the post of Treasurer got only one nomination paper each and hence they were elected unopposed. Vyapar Mandal District President Satish Joshi, District General Secretary Kamlesh Rai, etc. helped in conducting the election.
