Kanpur, 07 June (HS). In the case of arson to occupy a woman's plot, the MPMLA court on Friday sentenced five accused including SP MLA Irfan Solanki to seven years of imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of 20 thousand rupees has also been imposed. With a sentence of more than two years, Irfan is sure to lose his MLA status.
Five convicts, including SP MLA from Sisamau seat Irfan Solanki, lodged in Maharajganj jail, were convicted in the arson case by MPMLA Session Court Judge Satyendra Nath Tripathi on June 3. After this, the date of sentencing was fixed for June 7.
On Friday, MLA Irfan Solanki was presented in the court through video conferencing and the rest of the accused appeared directly in the court. While being brought to the court, Rizwan Solanki, brother of SP MLA Irfan Solanki, who is convicted in the case, said that justice will be done. This is a fake case, we are serving jail for innocence. The debate between the prosecution and the defense was completed in the court. The prosecution demanded maximum punishment and fine. The prosecution said that maximum fine should be imposed on the culprits and the maximum amount of the fine should be given to the victim. At the same time, the defense argued for reducing the sentence and minimum fine. After this, the court has given time to pronounce the verdict at 6 pm and the court sentenced the five culprits including the MLA to seven years of imprisonment while imposing a fine of Rs 20,000.
ADGC Bhaskar Mishra said that on June 3, the court had convicted MLA Irfan Solanki, Rizwan, Israel Aatewala, Mohd. Sharif and Shaukat Ali under IPC sections 147, 323, 436, 427 and 506. However, they were acquitted under sections 386 and 120B. In this case, 18 witnesses had recorded their statements on behalf of the prosecution and presented 300 pages of evidence in the court. All the accused appeared in the court on the pre-decided date of June 7 and at six in the evening, the court sentenced all of them to seven years of imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of Rs 20,000 has also been imposed. It was also told that if the sentence is more than two years, then SP MLA Irfan Solanki will also lose his membership of the Legislative Assembly.

Nazir Fatima lives in a hut on a plot near MLA Irfan Solanki's residence in Jajmau. Nazir Fatima alleges that MLA Irfan and his brother Rizwan had been eyeing to capture the plot for a long time. On this, both of them conspired and on November 7, 2022, when she had gone to a wedding ceremony, they got the hut built on the plot set on fire by their henchmen. After this, the victim lodged a report against the MLA, his brother and others in Jajmau police station on November 8. After the report was registered, MLA Irfan absconded and surrendered at the Police Commissioner's office on 22 December 2022. The police prepared three charge sheets in the case and in the first charge sheet, MLA Irfan Solanki, his brother Rizwan, Israel Atewal, Mohd. Sharif and Shaukat Ali were made accused. In two other charge sheets, Anoop Yadav, Mehboob Alam, Shamshuddin alias Chacha, Ejazuddin alias Sabloo, Mohd. Ejaz, Mursaleen Bholu, Shakeel Chikna were made accused. The court sentenced the five accused included in the first charge sheet to seven years of imprisonment. The case against the remaining accused is pending.
