Araria, June 05 (HS). The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge IV Ravi Kumar sentenced the husband who murdered his wife for dowry to life imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees.
The court also sentenced the convicted to an additional three months' imprisonment for not paying the fine. The court pronounced this verdict in Session Case No. 86/2021. The convicted is 24-year-old Vikas Rishidev, son of Jaggan Rishidev, a resident of Kochgama, Araria. Parmanand Rishidev, a resident of Purnia Jalalgarh, had lodged an FIR Case No. 366/2020 in Araria Town Police Station regarding the murder of his sister. In which he had made a total of eight people accused and they were accused of murdering his sister Karishma, demanding Rs 1 lakh in dowry and a motorcycle.
The neighbour had informed about the murder on mobile phone and when he reached the spot, his sister's dead body was lying there. All the people had fled from the house. Police conducted investigation and submitted chargesheet against only the accused Vikas Rishidev in the court. Whose trial was done in the court. Investigation is pending against other accused in the case namely Vimlesh Rishidev, Mukesh Rishidev, Akhilesh Rishidev, Rekha Devi, Jhalki Devi, Namita Devi Jaggan Rishidev.
On the point of punishment, Additional Public Prosecutor Prabha Kumari and Advocate Shashi Prakash Verma from the defence side presented their arguments in the court. After hearing both the sides, the court decided the punishment for the culprit.
