Kanpur, 05 June (HS). On the occasion of World Environment Day, tree plantation programs were organized at many places in the city, in which the public also took a pledge to keep the earth green by planting trees. Mayor Pramila Pandey planted saplings in the tree plantation program organized by the Municipal Corporation at Gulab Vatika and Rajiv Vatika located at Motijheel and said that our environment is a precious gift of nature. We have to preserve it for ourselves and the coming generation as well.
The mayor said that now the time has come for us to be alert and save the environment otherwise it will have serious consequences. He said that we should keep the surrounding area clean and save the rivers, ponds and other water sources from getting polluted.
The mayor appealed to all the citizens that we should take a pledge not to use plastic. With these small steps we will definitely be able to keep the environment clean. The mayor appealed to all the citizens to plant at least one sapling each.
On this occasion many people including councilor party leader Naveen Pandit, councilor Pawan Pandey, Anand Shukla, Saurabh Dev, Aakarsh Vajpayee, Kamlesh Trivedi etc. were present.
