New Delhi, June 5 (HS). A month after wowing Super Kings fans with a blazing century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Marcus Stoinis is set to don the yellow jersey for the same franchise, although this time in his American avatar.
The Australian all-rounder will join Aaron Hardie, Daryl Mitchell, South African T20 captain Aiden Markram and Naveen Ul Haq in the Texas Super Kings for the second season of Major League Cricket (MLC).
Stoinis, who turns 35 in August, is part of Australia's World Cup squad in the Caribbean but has not received a central contract from Cricket Australia for the 2024 season. He had a stellar IPL season 2024, where he scored nearly 400 runs in 12 innings at an impressive strike rate of 150.
Many Australian star players including Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head are set to play in the MLC this year. At the same time, only four Australian players will be part of the action in this year's The Hundred competition. On the other hand, the MLC will feature more than 10 frontline Australian cricketers.
