Rajnath Singh defeated Ravidas Mehrotra by a margin of 1 lakh 35 thousand votes

Lucknow, 04 June (HS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Rajnath Singh has defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Ravidas Mehrotra from Lucknow Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 01 lakh, 35 thousand, 159 votes. BJP candidate Rajnath Singh got 612709 votes in the final round of counting while Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Ravidas Mehrotra got 477550 votes.

BJP candidate Rajnath Singh took the lead over SP candidate Ravidas Mehrotra in the 10th round of vote counting. After this, the margin of victory kept increasing in every round. Rajnath Singh's supporters celebrated the victory by distributing sweets and gathered outside the counting venue and raised slogans. BJP's city president Anand Dwivedi received the certificate of victory.

Rajnath Singh got 54 to 56 percent votes every time

Rajnath Singh got 54.52 percent votes in Lucknow Lok Sabha seat in the year 2014. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rajnath was successful in getting 56.7 percent votes. This time in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rajnath Singh has got 53.89 percent votes.

Supporters of Ravidas burst crackers

Crackers were burst in support of Samajwadi Party candidate Ravidas who was trailing after a close contest in Lucknow Lok Sabha seat. Ravidas supporters burst crackers in large numbers at Kaiserbagh, Aminabad, Model House, Medical Road. On hearing the sound of crackers, people initially assumed that Ravidas Mehrotra had won. Later, the matter of crackers being burst due to close contest came to light.

BJP had given the slogan of crossing five lakhs

The BJP's city level leaders, while playing their role in the election management of Rajnath Singh, gave the slogan of crossing five lakhs. In this, MLC Mukesh Sharma, city president Anand Dwivedi, BJP leader Neeraj Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma, MLA Neeraj Bora fought the election wisely but were not successful in winning by a margin of five lakhs.
