Varanasi, June 03 (HS). Police on Monday exposed the case of the dead body of a woman found in a sack in the garbage dump near Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Government Hospital. ACP Cantt Vidush Saxena presented the murder accused in front of the media at the Cantt police station.

Giving information about the incident, the ACP said that through surveillance and informers it was found that Subhavati (deceased) was living with the sweeper Somnath alias Kallu for about five years. Somnath's wife died 06 years ago. Subhavati used to beg. Subhavati used to give the money she got from begging to her son Hiralal and daughter-in-law. Somnath did not want her to give the money to her son and daughter-in-law. Somnath had a dispute with Subhavati over this. Somnath beat Subhavati badly, due to which she died. After this, Somnath stuffed her body in a garbage sack and took it in a garbage cart and threw the body in the garbage dump.

The accused told the police during interrogation that on the night of 31 May, after a quarrel with Subhavati, he got into a fight. He hit and pushed Subhavati a lot, due to which Subhavati suffered serious injuries. After this, he saw that Subhavati was not breathing, so now he started trying to hide the crime and save himself. He brought a garbage truck to dispose of the body. He tied Subhavati's body with a rope and stuffed it in a junk sack. Then he took the body in the sack from the garbage truck and reached the garbage dump via Ardli Bazar, Mahavir Mandir, near Deendayal Hospital and in front of the Mental Hospital. He threw the sack in the garbage dump and left. He thought that the garbage truck would come and fill the sack with all the garbage and go away. No one would know about his crime. The ACP said that Somnath was seen carrying the sack on the trolley in the CCTV footage. On this basis, the police reached the accused.
