UP BJP requested the commission to conduct the counting of votes peacefully

Lucknow, June 03 (HS). A high-level delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met the Chief Election Officer of Uttar Pradesh at his office in Janpath on Monday evening and submitted a memorandum. The BJP has expressed apprehension of rioting by Samajwadi Party workers.

The delegation, led by BJP state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, that met the chief electoral officer included deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak, state cabinet minister and state election committee chief Swatantra Dev Singh, minister of state (independent charge) co-convener JPS Rathore and advocate Akhilesh Awasthi.

While submitting a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer, the BJP delegation expressed apprehension that there have been reports of a conspiracy by the Samajwadi Party to cause riots and violence during the counting of votes on June 4, 2024. SP workers are getting agitated by the things said in the press conference of the SP chief and are preparing to spread anarchy.

The delegation requested the Commission to take cognizance of the above matters and issue strict instructions to stop opposition party workers from gathering with the intention of creating chaos and riot during vote counting and to conduct the vote counting in a peaceful manner.
