New Delhi, June 3 (HS). Indian Grand Master Arjun Erigaisi has continued his lead in the FIDE world live rating. He defeated France's Loic Travadon in the French Team Chess Championship 2024 on Sunday to surpass Russia's Ian Nepomniachtchi to take fourth place in the FIDE world live rating.
With a career-high rating of 2771.2, Warangal's Arjun is behind Norway's Magnus Carlsen, USA's Hikaru Nakamura and Fabiano Caruana in the live rating list.
Playing for Metz Fischer Chess Club in the French Team Chess Championship, Arjun achieved his fourth consecutive victory.
Earlier, Arjun registered wins against compatriot Harikrishna Pentala, Germany's Vitali Kunin and Spain's Alvar Alonso Rosell to emerge with a total Elo rating of 9.8 from the tournament in France.
The 20-year-old Arjun has been in great form. He finished second behind Russian veteran Peter Svidler at the Tepe Sigeman Chess Tournament 2024 and then tied for fifth at the Sharjah Masters Open tournament with six points from nine rounds.
Five-time world champion Carlsen tops the classical rating list with a live rating of 2830.9. D. Gukesh (seventh) and R. Praggnanandhaa (10th) are the other two Indians in the world's top ten, making this the first time three Indians have made it to the list.
