As soon as voting started, EVM machines malfunctioned, long queues at booths, voters upset


Mirzapur, 01 June (HS). Voting for the Lok Sabha elections began at 7 am on Saturday in Mirzapur, the hot seat of Purvanchal. Due to malfunctioning of EVM machines at many booths, long queues were formed at the booths. Voters looked quite upset. However, voters will be able to vote till 6 pm. Voters coming after 6 pm will not be able to vote.

Around 19 lakh voters will exercise their right to vote and elect the MP in Mirzapur Parliamentary constituency-79. Voting began at 2143 booths of 1352 polling centers in the district at 7 am on Saturday. Voting started late at many booths, including Tarkapur in the city, due to EVM malfunction. Voters had to face problems due to this. Water bottles were taken away from the voters standing in queue suffering from heat. The police said that the water bottles would be returned only after the voting. Voters, who were standing in queue for hours, stood with dry throats waiting for the EVM to be repaired. The administration was busy in improving the arrangements at a slow pace.

BJP-NDA alliance candidate Anupriya Patel is desperate to score a hat-trick this time on Mirzapur parliamentary seat. While the SP candidate of the Indy alliance Ramesh Chandra Bind is leaving no stone unturned for his victory. Meanwhile, ten candidates including BSP's Manish Kumar Tripathi, Apna Dal Kamerawadi's Daulat Singh Patel are trying their luck.
