Jaunpur, May 27 (HS). Late on Sunday night, miscreants damaged the statue of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in Ishwari Singh Nevada village of Sarai Khwaja police station area. On Monday morning, as soon as the villagers came to know about the breaking of the hand of Baba Saheb's statue, they created a ruckus. People said that miscreants have committed this incident to spoil the atmosphere. On receiving the information, many people including Sarai Khwaja police and the in-charge of Shikarpur outpost reached the spot.
The statue of Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar is installed in Ishwari Singh Nevada village of the police station area. Late on Sunday night, someone broke the left hand of the Ambedkar statue. When the villagers came to know about this on Monday morning, gradually the rural women and people of the village gathered and started a ruckus. Then someone informed about this to Shikarpur police post and Sarai Khwaja police station, police force also reached the spot. Seeing the situation deteriorating, a large number of police force was deployed.
The villagers allege that some people of the village do such acts under the influence of alcohol. This act has been done to spoil the atmosphere. Police station in-charge Rajesh Mishra said that the villagers have been explained. With the help of the village head and those people, a new idol will be brought and installed. Some people including the village head have also gone to get the idol, after which the anger of the villagers subsided.
