Former MP will protest in Lucknow against the cutting of green trees

Hamirpur, May 25 (HS). Former BJP MP Gangacharan Rajput has come out openly on the cutting of green trees in Bundelkhand. After the complaint, he is now going to protest in Lucknow from Monday. The former MP of Hamirpur Mahoba Lok Sabha seat believes that the outbreak of natural calamities has increased due to illegal cutting of green trees in Bundelkhand. Due to this, farmers are getting ruined and the environmental balance is getting disturbed. There is a dire need to stop this. For this, he has lodged his complaint by sending letters to the Chief Minister and the Divisional Forest Officers of the districts.

He met the Chief Forest Conservator of the state in Lucknow and handed over a copy of the complaint given to the Chief Minister in the past and demanded to stop illegal felling of trees. The Chief Forest Conservator has assured to stop illegal felling of green trees within two days and to investigate the wood dumps. The former MP has announced a protest in Lucknow on Monday.

He told that Sumerpur town has become a hub of illegal wood cutting in Hamirpur Mahoba. On an average 50 trucks of wood are sent out from here every day. About 100 trucks of wood are being sent out from the entire district. There is collusion of police, Mandi Parishad and Forest Department in this. The amazing thing is that GST is being stolen by trading timber wood on a large scale from here under the guise of firewood. When caught, they pay the fine and escape.

According to the Mandi Parishad, the Mandi fee is 1.5 percent. While the GST on firewood is zero. There is five percent GST on timber pieces of 1 to 5 feet and 18 percent GST on timber more than 6 feet long. There is huge evasion in this. At present, apart from the district, wood is being brought from Mahoba, Banda, Jalaun and consumed in the town. From here, its business is being done on a large scale. Apart from Banda Road, Bhaunia, Banki Road of the town, its huge dumps are made in the factory area. From here it is loaded into trucks and sent out.

Forest area officer Iftar Khan said that acacia and vilayati acacia wood comes under exempted species. No license is issued by his department for its trade.

Mandi Secretary Nitin Kumar Gautam said that 411 gate passes for timber and firewood have been issued in the month of May. This includes 262 gate passes for firewood and 149 gate passes for timber. 98321 quintals of wood have been sent out through these gate passes.

He said that apart from Faheem Wood Work and Supplier, Faizan Udyog, Gupta Wood Corporation, Rehmat Timber Mart, Farhan Timber, Baba Vishwanath Traders, Om Sai Ram Wood Suppliers, AB Enterprises, MD Corporation, Rama Shiv Traders, Maa Bhagwati Traders, many firms from Rampur, Kanpur and Meerut are doing business from here.
