The countdown for the T20 World Cup 2024 has begun. The tournament will start from June 2. The ICC had earlier appointed veteran Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, Universe Boss Chris Gayle and sprinter Usain Bolt as ambassadors for the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan's team reached the final in the T20 World Cup 2007. Shahid Afridi was a part of this team and was also declared the best player of the series. In 2009, the Pakistan team captured the T20 World Cup. In the final, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. In the decisive match, Afridi played an unbeaten innings of 54 runs off 40 balls. Also, only 1 wicket fell within 20 runs in 4 overs. He was declared the Player of the Match in the final.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has expressed his happiness on becoming the ambassador of T20 World Cup 2024. He said, “The ICC Men's T20 World Cup is an event that is very close to my heart. From becoming the Player of the Tournament in my debut season to lifting the trophy in 2009, some of the favorite highlights of my career have come on this platform. He said, “The T20 World Cup has grown stronger in recent years and I am thrilled to be a part of this season. Where we will see more teams, more matches and more drama than ever before. I am excited to watch the India-Pakistan match on June 9.
