Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu defeated Scotland's Christy Gilmour in straight games to enter the second round of women's singles at the Malaysia Masters Super 500 badminton tournament. Gilmore challenged the Hyderabadi player who returned to the court after a short break but the Indian player won the match with the score of 21-17, 21-16. World number 15 Sindhu did not participate in the Uber Cup and Thailand Open due to injury and fitness problems. Sindhu has not even been able to reach the quarter finals in the last few tournaments. The fifth seed last won a title at the Singapore Open in 2022. His next match will be against Sim Yu Jin of Korea. In mixed doubles, the 53rd-ranked pair of Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy entered the second round after defeating qualifier Lui of Hong Kong 21-15, 12-21, 21-17. Chun Wai and Fu Chi Yan were next up against Chentang and Toi Ee Wei of Malaysia.
