New Delhi, May 23 (HS). The first T20 International match between England and Pakistan was abandoned without a single ball being bowled at Headingley on Wednesday due to incessant rain.
Heavy and prolonged rain in Leeds forced the umpires to call off the match about an hour before the scheduled start at 11 pm IST.
The remaining matches of the four-match series against Pakistan will be played on May 25, May 28 and May 30 at Edgbaston, Cardiff and the Oval respectively.
The Pakistan T20 series could mark the return of England fast bowler Jofra Archer to the international team. Injuries have plagued the fast bowler's career, with elbow and back problems keeping the 29-year-old out of top-level cricket for 14 months.
