All teachers and employees will get gratuity in the new pension scheme: Vice Chancellor

Prayagraj, 18 May (HS). The executive meeting of Allahabad University was held in North Hall on Saturday under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor of Allahabad University, Prof. Sangeeta Srivastava. In pursuance of the decision of UGC, it was said in the meeting that all the teachers and non-teaching employees coming under the new pension scheme will get gratuity. Before this, there was no provision for gratuity for those joining the new pension scheme.

Chief Public Relations Officer of IVV, Dr. Jaya Kapoor said that in the special leave petition filed by Assistant Professor Dr. Deepshikha Sonkar in the Supreme Court, the decision given by the Supreme Court on May 13 was accepted as correct by the High Court. The High Court had accepted that a baseless case was filed due to departmental politics. Taking cognizance of this decision, it was decided in the meeting today that a show cause notice should be issued to Dr. Deepshikha Sonkar.

He told that a case was filed by Dr. Sonkar in the dispute regarding the use of the room of Professor Girish Chandra Tripathi in the Economics Department after he became the Vice Chancellor of BHU. Consent was given for confirmation of service of 25 teachers of CBCS, Statistics, Psychology and NCEMP after completion of two years of service probation period of 269 non-teaching staff and one year of service probation period. The change in the honorarium for examination related work, proposed by the Examination Committee and passed by the Academic Council, was approved. According to this, now honorarium for these works will be given at increased rates.

In the meeting, the report of the work done by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sangeeta Srivastava in the last three and a half years was presented. Appointment of 320 teachers and 375 non-teachers and promotion of 103 teachers and 127 non-teachers, construction of new building of Chemistry Department, Lecture Theater Complex Library Extension Building, refund of Rs 26 lakh by filing income tax return for the first time, Hindu Hostel, Science Council Achievements like acquisition of , and agreement with MNNIT etc. were appreciated.
