New Delhi, May 18 (Hindustan Reporter) Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined for a slow over-rate during the IPL 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday night.
A statement issued by the IPL late on Friday night said, “Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been charged for maintaining a slow over rate during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 17. Fine has been imposed after possession.”
The statement further said, “As this was his team's third offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Pandya was fined Rs 30 lakh and banned from playing in the team's next match given. The remaining members of the playing XI, including the impact players, were individually fined Rs 12 lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lower.”
Talking about the match, in this match LSG batted first and won 20 overs thanks to the excellent half-centuries of Nicholas Pooran (29 balls, 75 runs, 5 fours, 8 sixes) and KL Rahul (41 balls, 55 runs, 3 fours, 3 sixes). Scored 214 runs for 6 wickets.
In reply, Mumbai team could score only 196 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 18 runs. For Mumbai, Rohit Sharma (68 runs from 38 balls, 10 fours, 3 sixes) and Naman Dhir (62 runs not out from 28 balls, 4 fours and 5 sixes) scored brilliant half-centuries.
