BCCI gave a big blow to Hardik Pandya, suspended him for one match; A fine of Rs 30 lakh was imposed

New Delhi: The end of IPL 2024 was also very disappointing for Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya. On Friday, in the 67th match of IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians lost by 18 runs at the hands of Lucknow Supergiants. This was Mumbai's 10th defeat in the current season and it remained last in the points table.

The disappointment of the Mumbai Indians camp increased further when captain Hardik was suspended for one match and fined Rs 30 lakh. Actually, against Lucknow Supergiants, Mumbai Indians did not bowl their entire 20 overs on time. This means that Mumbai violated the IPL code and suffered a poor result due to slow over-rate.

By the way, captain Hardik was suspended and fined Rs 30 lakh by Mumbai Indians for the third time in the current season due to slow over-rate bowling. Captain Hardik was given severe punishment considering the team guilty of this at Wankhede Stadium.

IPL statement

As this is Mumbai Indians' third offense of the season which pertains to the minimum over rate in the IPL code of conduct. Hardik was fined Rs 30 lakh and banned from the team's next match.

Mumbai Indians playing eleven members and impact players were either fined Rs 12 lakh or had 50 per cent of their match fees deducted. An amount less than this will be recovered as fine.

Pandya is the second such captain

Hardik has become the second player to face a one-match suspension in the ongoing IPL. Earlier, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was banned for one match after missing the crucial match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai Indians played their last league match against Lucknow on Friday, so Pandya will be out of the first match of the next season.

Mumbai's performance was disappointing

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have had a very bad season so far. Under Hardik's captaincy, Mumbai won only four out of 14 matches and lost 10 matches. Mumbai Indians finished last in the points table for the second time in IPL history. Earlier in 2022 also, Mumbai was at the last position.
