Girl student dies in road accident, villagers burn tractor

Hamirpur, 17 May (HS). An eight-year-old girl student died on the spot after being hit by a tractor loaded from Moram on Friday in Kurara Manki road of Kurara police station area. Meanwhile, angry villagers set the tractor loaded with moram on fire. After this there was a huge ruckus by creating a jam. The jam could be cleared after three hours of persuasion by the police station in-charge inspector. Police arrested the tractor driver and sent the body for post-mortem.

Pooja Singh, resident of Mishripur village of the police station area, was a teacher in RN Gurukulam Public School of the town. His eight-year-old daughter Kaushiki was a class two student. After the holiday on Friday, she had left for the village on a scooty with another student of her school, Shubhi Singh.

Kaushiki, who was riding a scooty, died on the spot after being hit by a tractor loaded from the first moram of Qutubpur village on Kurara Manki road. Shubhi Singh was seriously injured, the police took her to the local CHC for treatment, where seeing the condition worsening, the doctors referred her to the district hospital.

Angry villagers blocked Kurara Manki road by placing the dead body. There was an altercation between the villagers and the police for hours. The villagers refused to take the dead body and set the tractor on fire, due to which the tractor was completely burnt to ashes. Seeing the attitude of the villagers, Kurara police station, Kotwali police and all the police of Dial 112 reached the spot.

After hours of persuasion by the police station inspector in-charge, the angry villagers opened the jam and allowed the body to be taken away. The police filled the Panchnama of the body and sent it for post-mortem. The police have taken the driver into custody and are taking further action.
