Prayagraj, 14 May (HS). The Allahabad High Court has rejected the bail application of Praveen, accused in the case of shooting dead a businessman in the Civil Lines police station area in Aligarh through a widespread conspiracy and has ordered to complete the trial as soon as possible.
Although the court said that bail is the rule and jail is the exception, but in view of the criminal history of 18 cases against the petitioner and the possibility of repetition of the crime, it refused to release him on bail. This order has been given by Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamsheri.
The court said that in the last one and a half year, the case was heard eight times but most of the times the hearing was postponed. The court said that a lawyer should try to get the case heard and not postpone the hearing.
It is known that at 8.45 pm on 27th December 21, the attackers came from the vehicle and fired indiscriminately at the businessman sitting in the car. In which he died and the attackers ran away. On the basis of the testimony of eyewitnesses of the incident and CCTV footage, a total of 13 accused were identified and during investigation, clues of a wider conspiracy were found. The bail application of main conspirator Ankush Aggarwal has been rejected. However, a co-accused Sahil Yadav has been released on bail. The court said that looking at the criminal history, there is a possibility of indulging in crime again and refused to grant bail.
