Now the name of former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has also been added to this list. Ravi Shastri has supported the impact player rule.
Ravi Shastri's opinion on impact player rule
While on one hand all the cricketers are giving their opinion on the Impact Player rule, on the other hand now former head coach Ravi Shastri has also given his opinion on this. While talking on the YouTube channel of Team India's spin bowler R Ashwin, Ravi Shastri said that I think this is a very good rule, this happens in other sports also. Now we have to evolve with time. When a new rule comes, people have different opinions on it.
What are the impact player rules?
BCCI introduces impact player rule in IPL 2023. The biggest benefit of which has been seen in this season. During the toss in every match, all the teams name their 5 influential players. These 5 players are different from the playing eleven. Out of which the team can use only one player during the match. When the team's batting is weak then the captain includes the batsman as an influential player.
Therefore, when the team's bowling is bad, the captain uses some bowlers. During this period, all the teams play 12 players instead of 11 in a match. In IPL 2024, all the franchises took full advantage of this rule. Due to which a score of more than 250 has been made 8 times this season.
Rohit Sharma told wrong rules
Team India captain Rohit Sharma has also found the impact player rule wrong. Rohit Sharma said that this rule actually hinders the performance of all-rounders. Cricket is a game of 11 players but due to this rule 12 players are playing. I don't like this rule very much.
