New Delhi: KL Rahul was once again the center of attraction in the match between Lucknow Supergiants and Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. There was a lot of speculation about the way Lucknow franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka spoke to KL Rahul after the embarrassing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last match.
There was discussion that Rahul may leave the captaincy in the last two matches and Nicholas Pooran may be made the captain in his place. When Lucknow Supergiants assistant coach Lance Klusener was asked about this in the press conference on Tuesday, he said that there was no discussion on this topic in the team.
Klausner said, “There is no problem in this conversation between two cricket lovers (Goenka and Rahul). We like solid conversations. This improves the performance of teams. This is not a big deal for us. Even if Rahul steps down or takes over the captaincy, he would like to perform with a bang and end the season with the bat.
Klusener said that Rahul has his own unique style, which has made him an excellent cricketer. This IPL was difficult for him because we kept losing wickets continuously, due to which he did not get a chance to play freely. Looking at Rahul's level, he might have wanted to score a century or two, which could not happen. I think he will play a big innings soon.
The Lucknow team is also in seventh place with 12 points and is still outside the top four along with Delhi and RCB. Rahul and his team have got five days to overcome their weaknesses and will look to give their best against a Delhi team who is coming off a losing streak against RCB on Sunday night.
