Income Tax Notice: The process of filing income tax returns (ITR filing) has now started. Now the Income Tax Department has brought a great feature on the Income Tax Portal for income taxpayers. With the help of this feature, the income taxpayer will get all the notices sent by the Income Tax Department at one place in a single click. With this the notice can be tracked easily. This facility has been added in the new e-Proceedings section. In such a situation, by clicking on the new tab, users will be able to track all the pending tax proceedings. Search option is also given in it so that the taxpayer can easily search any particular notice.

The Income Tax Department says that this new facility introduced on the portal will reduce the compliance burden on the taxpayer. There will be no need to go to the Income Tax Department office for every work. Not only this, this new feature will make it easier for taxpayers to keep track of various other communications sent by the department including income tax notices.

The Income Tax Department has also told about this new feature in the FAQ. The FAQ states that the e-Proceedings tab available on the e-filing portal is a simple way to electronically respond to all notices, information and letters issued by the Income Tax Department.

ITR is being filled

Filing of income tax returns for assessment year 2024-25 has started. According to the Income Tax Department website, 1029423 ITRs have been filed so far. Income taxpayers can file their ITR by choosing either the new tax system or the old tax system.
