Thailand extends free visa access for Indians: Sri Lanka has recently extended the period of free visa access policy to promote tourism in the country and boost the country's economy. Additionally, Thailand has also decided to extend the free visa policy for the next 6 months. Thailand has extended its free visa program for tourists from India and Taiwan for another six months.
Indian tourists will not need visa for the next 6 months
Indian tourists will be allowed to enter the country without visa till 11 November 2024. Thailand's economy is heavily dependent on tourism, so Thailand has taken this decision to boost the economy and attract more foreign tourists.
Program starts in November 2023
According to Bloomberg report, after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Thai Prime Minister Shretha Thawisin announced that tourists from India and Taiwan will be allowed to stay for 1 month under the free visa program.
Thailand started this program in November last year, under which tourists from India and Taiwan were being given free visa entry for 15 days. After the good results of the Thai government program, it has been decided to extend it for the next 6 months.
Thailand welcomed 28 million tourists this year the target is set
More than 12 million foreign tourists arrived in Thailand in the first four months of 2024, up 39 percent from the previous year. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports said that most tourists in Thailand come from China, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea and India.
