International Cricket: Every player wants to score a century in international cricket. Many succeed and many fail. Veteran bowlers like Jason Gillespie, Saqlain Mushtaq, Ajit Agarkar, Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh have also scored centuries in Test cricket while top-order batsmen like Chetan Chauhan and Mike Brearley have not scored a single century in their career. norman yardley
England's Norman Yardley has scored over 18,000 runs in first-class cricket with 27 centuries, but he has never scored a century in Test cricket. Yardley, who captained England in 16 Test matches between 1938 and 1950, was a middle-order batsman as well as a right-arm bowler. Yardley's highest score in 20 Test matches was 99 runs against South Africa in June 1947. Yardley never scored a century in a Test under his captaincy after being dismissed for 99 by South African bowler Ossie Dawson.
john beck
New Zealand's John Beck started his career in 1953 against South Africa in Johannesburg. Under this series, he was run out after scoring 99 runs in the third test played in Cape Town. Mahir Beck scored three half-centuries in his eight-Test international career but never a century.
Maqsood Ahmed
Pakistan's Maqsood Ahmed played 16 Tests between 1952 and 1955. In the Lahore Test against India in 1955, Maqsood came to bat at number four and was out for 99 runs. Leg break bowler Subhash Gupte was stumped by wicketkeeper Narendra Tamhane while trying to get out. Maqsood's career ended without a century.
Russian beauty
Left-handed batsman and bowler Rusi Surti took 284 wickets besides scoring over 8,000 runs with six centuries in first-class cricket, but could not live up to his talent in Test cricket. Scored 1263 runs with 9 half-centuries and took 42 wickets in 26 Test matches. In March 1968, he had a chance to score a century in the second innings of the Auckland Test against New Zealand but was dismissed by fast bowler Gary Bartlett after scoring 99 runs. Surti, a Parsi cricketer who usually bats at number four and number five, could not convert any of his half-centuries into centuries in Test cricket.
martin moxon
England's Martin Moxon is also among those batsmen who could not score a century in Tests despite scoring many runs in first-class cricket. His international career was limited to 10 Tests and 8 ODIs. Moxon, who played for England from 1985 to 1989, made his Test highest score against New Zealand in Auckland in February 1988. Opener Moxon was caught by Jeff Crowe off the bowling of fast bowler Ivan Chatfield on 99 runs. Career ended with one half-century in 3 Tests and one ODI.
Deepak Patel
Deepak Patel of Indian origin played 37 Test and 75 ODI matches for New Zealand between 1987 and 1997. Apart from off-break bowling, he was also a useful batsman. Scored more than 15,000 runs in first-class cricket with 26 centuries but could score only 5 centuries in Tests and one half-century in ODIs. In the Christchurch Test against England in January 1992, he was run out for 99 and missed a century. After this he scored 3 half-centuries but could not convert any of them into centuries. International career ended without a century.
shane warne
Right-arm leg break bowler Shane Warne is counted among the greatest spinners in the world. Took 708 wickets in 145 tests. Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan has more wickets than Warne in Test cricket. Also took 293 wickets in 194 ODI matches. Performing even better lower down the order, Warne scored 12 half-centuries in Test cricket and one half-century in ODIs, but his dream of scoring a Test century remained unfulfilled. In the Christchurch Test against New Zealand in November 2001, he was dismissed for 99 by spinner Daniel Vettori. Shane Warne could not score a century in international cricket.
Asim Kamal
Pakistan's amazing batting was suitable for Test cricket. He was famous for playing while standing on the wicket. Middle-order batsman Kamal had a chance to score a century in his first Test match, but he was bowled by Andre Nel, who had scored 99 in the Test against South Africa in Lahore. He scored 717 runs in a 12-Test career at an average of 37.73 with eight half-centuries but failed to score a single century in international cricket.
Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Starc of Australia is the last batsman to be out for 99 runs in Test cricket. However, the 34-year-old Starc is still active in international cricket and has a chance to score his best score of 99 in Test cricket. Starc has so far played 89 Tests, 121 ODIs and 60 T20 matches, in which he has scored 10 half-centuries in Tests and one half-century in ODIs. He scored his highest Test score of 99 against India in Mohali in March 2013, but missed his century by one run after being dismissed by Ishant Sharma.
