East Champaran, 07 May (HS). A woman died under suspicious circumstances in Sobaiya Ward No. 21 of Machhargawa Panchayat of Kotwa police station area of the district. The deceased is said to be Rinku Devi, 30-year-old wife of Raju Patel. The maternal house of the deceased is in Ward No. 16 of Machhargaon. Rinku's sister-in-law is also a ward member of the said ward.
Rinku's brother and ward member's husband Lalan Patel says that his sister was married to Raju Patel 8 years ago, who has no children. Due to this, his in-laws used to harass his sister and on Monday night his sister was strangulated to death.
According to Lalan Patel, his brother-in-law had also got married for the second time a year ago. After the same incident, when Lalan Patel's mother and family members reached Rinku's house, the accused also beat her. As soon as the police received information about the incident, the body was post-mortemed late on Monday night and handed over to the family. In this regard, Kotwa police station incharge Rajroop Rai has said that the incident is being investigated and action will be taken against the accused after investigation.
