Slogans were raised in support of Khalistan in the presence of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and opposition leader Pierre Poilievre at the Khalsa Day celebration held in Toronto, Canada. This is a new picture of anti-India sentiment in Canada. In the video released by Canada's CPAC TV, it can be seen that as soon as Prime Minister Trudeau reached the stage to address the ceremony, loud slogans started. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow were also present in the program when slogans of Khalistan Zindabad were being raised. Similar scenes unfolded when Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievre arrived to give the invocation.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the Sikh community and said that the government is there to protect their rights and freedoms at any cost. Meanwhile, considering the seriousness of this incident, the Indian Foreign Ministry has called the Deputy High Commissioner of Canada in Delhi and lodged a protest.
