Railway Ticket Cancellation Fee: About 3 crore people travel in Indian Railways every day. Indian Railways is the fourth largest railway system in the world. Many changes have taken place in Indian Railways in the last few years. All railway facilities have improved. The condition of the stations has also improved. So the speed of trains has also increased.

Despite all this, there were some rules of Railways which were in practice for a long time. Which needed to be changed. There was a similar rule regarding charges for railway ticket cancellation. Due to which Railways earned a lot. But the passengers faced a lot of trouble. Railways has now changed the rules regarding waiting ticket cancellation charges. Let us know the complete news.

Changes made in ticket cancellation charges

Indian Railways has made a new change regarding ticket cancellation, giving great convenience to the passengers. Now no separate charge will be taken by Railways on waiting and RAC ticket cancellation. According to the new rules issued by the Railways, if a ticket is in the waiting list or RAC, no additional money will be charged as service charge.

Under the new rule, now the fixed amount of Rs 60 will be deducted. Talking about which, charge of ₹ 120 will be deducted in sleeper. So, a charge of ₹180 will be deducted on cancellation of Third AC ticket. On cancellation of second AC ticket, a charge of Rs 200 will be deducted. Rs 200 will be deducted, whereas first AC will cost Rs 240.

Earlier service charge was charged

Earlier Railways was charging huge amount as service charge and convenience fee on waiting list and RAC tickets or cancellation of other tickets. Railways used to get revenue of several crores just like this. Hence there was loss of passengers. But now the fee has been fixed by the Railways.

Decision taken after RTI

Sunil Kumar Khandelwal from Giridih, Jharkhand who is a social worker and RTI activist. He had filed an RTI and complained about the ticket cancellation charge. He had said in his complaint that Railways is earning crores of rupees only from ticket cancellation charges.

Due to which passengers are suffering a lot of loss. He told that a ticket worth Rs 190 was booked. Which was in waiting but after cancellation, Railways returned only Rs 95 as refund. The new decision of Railways will provide convenience to the passengers.
