Happy Birthday Sachin Tendulkar: This player had to undergo operation due to Sachin's bouncer, know

Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary player of the cricket world and known as the God of Cricket, has turned 51 today. Many cricket records are associated with him. Even in terms of records, he is ahead of other players. Sachin Tendulkar is the only player in the world to score 100 centuries. When he came to the crease and played, there was an atmosphere of celebration in India. When Sachin Tendulkar was out, the TV used to switch off. There are many examples of Sachin Tendulkar's bowling but he is very familiar with one example. When his ball injured the batsman.

Sachin Tendulkar initially wanted to become a fast bowler, but after the advice of Dennis Lillee, he focused his entire attention on batting. After this, Sachin Tendulkar destroyed many big bowlers with his batting.

Coming back to Sachin's old story, Tendulkar had bowled such a bouncer in a match that the batsman's nose was broken. This incident took place on 20 April 1991 during a Ranji match between Delhi and Mumbai. Sachin Tendulkar's ball was so dangerous that Bantu Singh suffered multiple fractures in his nose and started bleeding. Bantu was the pillar of Delhi's batting in the 1980s and 90s.

Recalling an incident more than 3 decades old, Bantu Singh said – After Tendulkar's bouncer, the shape of my nose changed, now my nose is new. Bantu said, 'We tried to prepare a slippery pitch in Kotla on which the ball would bounce, but later it became a paradise for the batsmen. Our fast bowlers Sanjeev Sharma and Atul Wasan bowled some bouncers to Dilip Vengsarkar who was playing his last season. I remember that on at least two occasions Atul's bouncers hit Dilip on the chest and a scuffle broke out.

He said, 'I got this injury in the second innings. I scored a century in the first innings and in the second innings, which was just a formality, I hit Tendulkar for a four, but his next ball hit the grass and bounced towards me, I played a pull shot and the ball hit Tendulkar for a four. He started hitting the nose with the edge of the bat. The injury was so severe that I lost my balance, Manjrekar ran from the slip and reached me and saved me from falling. Both mine and Manjrekar's shirts were red with blood.

Tendulkar called and inquired about the situation.

After that incident, Bantu Singh was taken to Sanjeev Hospital behind Kotla (now Arun Jaitley Stadium) and it was discovered that he had multiple fractures in his nose, which required an operation. They will have to take liquid diet for at least two months. Even today Bantu has not forgotten Tendulkar's humanity. He said, 'It was around 11 pm after the Mumbai team match when our landline phone rang and my father picked it up. On the other side was Tendulkar. I don't know how they got my phone number, they asked my father how I am, what do the doctors say? After this, whenever we met, he would ask, 'Is your nose okay?'

Delhi had lost the match at that time

At that time, the war between Mumbai and Delhi was at its peak and both the teams were in a close contest. In the quarter-finals, Delhi team fell behind in the first innings and lost the match and were out of the race for the title. In reply to Mumbai's 390 runs in the first innings, Delhi scored 389 runs. In the second innings, Mumbai scored huge with the help of centuries from Sanjay Manjrekar, Tendulkar and Chandrakant Pandit.
