Lucknow, 20 April (HS). The first phase of voting in eight Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttar Pradesh concluded successfully on Friday. The people of Saharanpur lost the most votes in the voting on eight seats. A total of 68.09 percent voting took place here. Whereas in Rampur seat, least number of voters used the EVM machine button. The total voting here was 55.75 percent.
Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinwa said that in the first phase of the state, voting was completed peacefully in 08 Lok Sabha constituencies on Friday. Voting started at 7.00 am and ended at 6.00 pm. Based on the information received from the districts till 5:00 pm, a total of 57.54 percent voting took place in 08 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state. During this time, voting continued for the voters who had reached inside the booths. The presiding officers got the voting completed and the process of sealing of EVM machines and VVPAT completed. After sealing, it took about seven to eight o'clock to take everyone to the strong room under security.
The voting figures were released by the Election Commission late in the night during the booths where voting was completed in between sealing of EVM machines after 5 o'clock. Saharanpur topped in this with 68.09 percent. There was 58.05 percent voting in Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha seat, 61.17 percent voting in Kairana Lok Sabha seat and 60 percent voting in Bijnor Lok Sabha seat. Similarly, the voting figures for Nagina Lok Sabha seat were 61 percent and the lowest for Rampur Lok Sabha seat was 55.75 percent. The total voting data on eight seats will be released by the Election Commission on Saturday.
