London, 20 February (Hindustan Reporter). Crystal Palace appointed former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner as their new head coach on Monday after veteran Roy Hodgson resigned earlier in the day.
Glassner has agreed a contract until June 2026 and will take charge of his first game against Burnley at the weekend.
Glasner joined Palace after leading Eintracht to the 2022 UEFA Europa League title in his first season and the German Cup final in his second season.
“I am very pleased to join Crystal Palace,” Glasner said in an official statement released by the club. “I am looking forward to working with the talented team, meeting the club’s supporters and experiencing the atmosphere at Selhurst Park that I have heard so much about.”
Glasner has replaced former England coach Hodgson. Hodgson was on the brink of the sack after 10 defeats in 16 games, and was taken to hospital after falling ill during a training session last Thursday.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here over six seasons as it has given me the opportunity to work with top-level players and a staff I enjoy every day,” Hodgson said in a statement.
Hodgson became the oldest coach in Premier League history when he returned to Crystal Palace for a second stint following the sacking of Patrick Vieira last season.
