Ahmedabad, 18 April (HS). After the defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) in a low-scoring encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill said that his team's batting was very average.
After the bowlers, excellent batting from Jake Fraser-McGurk, Abhishek Porel and Shai Hope helped Delhi register a six-wicket win against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The right-handed opening batsman said that we batted poorly, there was no flaw in the wicket.
Gill said after the match, “Our batting was very average, and it is important to move forward and come back stronger. The wicket was fine, if you look at some of the players who were out, it had nothing to do with the pitch. I would say that the batsmen played bad shots. When the opposition team is chasing 89 runs and unless a bowler takes a double hat-trick, the opposition team will always be in the game. This is the halfway point of the season for us, we have won 3 and hopefully we will win 5-6 out of the next 7 matches.”
Talking about the match, in this match Delhi won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rashid Khan (31 runs in 24 balls with the help of two fours and one six) was the top scorer for Gujarat. Only three batsmen from Gujarat reached double figures. Gujarat team was reduced to 89 runs in 17.3 overs. For Delhi, Mukesh Kumar took 3 wickets, Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs took 2-2 wickets.
In reply, Delhi had the wicket of Jake Fraser-McGurk (20 runs in 10 balls, one four and two sixes), Abhishek Poral (15), Shai Hope (19), captain Rishabh Pant (16*) and Sumit Kumar (9*). -Thanks to short innings, we won by six wickets after losing 4 wickets in 8.5 overs.
Pant was given the 'Player of the Match' award for his excellent wicketkeeping.
