New Delhi, April 18 (Hindustan Reporter) Gujarat Titans (GT) recorded their lowest score in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in their match against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. Gujarat team was reduced to only 89 runs against Delhi.
After the bowlers, excellent batting from Jake Fraser-McGurk, Abhishek Porel and Shai Hope helped Delhi register a six-wicket win against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
In the 32nd match of the 17th edition of IPL, Gujarat team was out for its lowest score of just 89 runs. Gujarat's previous lowest score in IPL has been 125/6 against Delhi in 2023, 130 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in 2024 and 135/6 against LSG.
Titans top the list of teams getting out on low scores. Last year's finalists were out for just 89 runs during the 32nd match of the 17th edition.
Other teams that have been out on low scores against Delhi include Mumbai Indians (92 runs in IPL 2012), Rising Pune Super Giants (108 runs in IPL 2017) and Chennai Super Kings (110/8 in IPL 2012).
Talking about the match, in this match Delhi won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rashid Khan (31 runs in 24 balls with the help of two fours and one six) was the top scorer for Gujarat. Only three batsmen from Gujarat reached double figures. Gujarat team was reduced to 89 runs in 17.3 overs. For Delhi, Mukesh Kumar took 3 wickets, Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs took 2-2 wickets.
In reply, Delhi had the wicket of Jake Fraser-McGurk (20 runs in 10 balls, one four and two sixes), Abhishek Poral (15), Shai Hope (19), captain Rishabh Pant (16*) and Sumit Kumar (9*). -Thanks to short innings, we won by six wickets after losing 4 wickets in 8.5 overs.
Pant was given the 'Player of the Match' award for his excellent wicketkeeping.
Delhi team is at sixth position in the points table with a total of six points with three wins and four losses. While Gujarat team is at seventh position in the table with a total of six points with three wins and four losses.
