Nearly 100 acres of crop destroyed due to electrical short circuit

Hamirpur, 16 April (HS). Nearly 100 bighas of crop were burnt to ashes in three separate fire incidents in Sumerpur area on Tuesday. The farmers became angry when the fire brigade arrived late.

Due to electrical short circuit in Terdha village at 3 pm, 15 bighas of resident farmer Jhandu Singh Chandel, 27 bighas of Harcharan Singh, 25 bighas of Ram Asare Tiwari, five bighas of Jhandu Sahu, 05 bighas of Vinod Kumar, 05 bighas of Mahesh Sahu were lost in Pachkhura village. Suresh Sahu's 05 bigha wheat crop was burnt to ashes. There was anger among the farmers due to the late arrival of the fire brigade. After receiving the information, the police reached the police station along with the ambulance and fire squad and brought the fire under control. By then 86 bighas of crop had been burnt.

The second incident took place in Chandaukhi village at around 12 noon. About five bighas of wheat crop was burnt to ashes due to fire caused by short circuit in the field of resident Dinesh Chandra Srivastava. The fire brigade brought the fire under control. The third incident took place in the tube well of Akhilesh Tiwari, resident of Unchha Thok in the town. Here, due to rivalry, unknown people sprinkled petrol and set the gram crop on fire. Due to this, about three bighas of gram crop was burnt to ashes. The victim farmer has submitted a complaint to the police against the unknown. The fire incidents have created panic among the farmers. It is estimated that farmers will suffer a loss of Rs 20 lakh due to the fire.
