Six-time world champion female boxer MC Mary Kom has resigned from the post of India's chief of mission for this year's Paris Olympics. He said that due to personal reasons I have no other option. Indian Olympic Association President and India's great sprinter PT Usha said that Mary Kom has written a letter requesting to relieve herself of the responsibility.
“It is an honor to serve the country in any capacity and I was mentally prepared for it but I regret that I will not be able to take up this responsibility,” Mary Kom said. I am resigning from my post due to personal reasons. I have no option left. I will always be ready to encourage all the athletes participating in the Olympics. It is noteworthy that Mary Kom was appointed mission chief by IOA on March 21.
PT Usha said Olympic medalist Mary Kom has stepped down due to personal reasons. We respect his decision and will announce his replacement soon. IO and my support will always be with him. I request everyone to respect his personal decision.
