Russia Ukraine War: Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers fighting against Russia for two years have been killed. Ukraine is facing shortage of weapons as well as soldiers. In such a situation, the Parliament of Ukraine has approved a controversial law for the recruitment of new soldiers in the army.
However, there was considerable delay in getting this law passed in Parliament. Some of its provisions were too harsh for the MPs. Due to which a decision was taken to amend it. Because the MPs feared that this law would increase public resentment. The new law allows Ukraine's military to force citizens to serve in the army.
Ukrainian President Zelensky said that this law has been brought at the request of the Ukrainian Army. Ukraine's army wants to recruit 500,000 new soldiers. Because after the war with Russia, there has been a shortage of soldiers on various fronts.
The people of Ukraine have not shown much interest in the new law, due to which there is a fear that if this law is implemented for compulsory recruitment in the army, then people will become complacent.
This law was passed after Russia targeted a power plant in Ukraine in a zone attack that completely destroyed the power plant.
