However, this movement is occurring in one part of the fault, the Parkfield section. But scientists fear that this could lead to a bigger earthquake.

An earthquake occurs here every 22 years. Last year in 2004 there was a terrible earthquake here. Although there is no movement across the fault at present, scientists are alert.

The study says that an earthquake can occur in America at any time, but its center may be different from the center of the 2004 earthquake.
