Chandigarh: Now the Punjab Government will not be able to deny the benefit of annual increment on one date to those employees who have completed one year of service on the last date of the month of retirement. The Division Bench of the High Court has issued these orders while rejecting the appeal of the Punjab Government against the orders of the Single Bench.
This is how Punjab government stops salary hike
Mohali resident Malghar Singh filed a petition in the single bench of the High Court through lawyer Geetanjali Chhabra, saying that if one year has passed after the last increment of a government employee on the date of retirement, then the Punjab government will declare this benefit on a date. Not having entitlements deprives the employee. The government considers them retired on the last day of the month and on the first day of the next month they are considered retired and are deprived of the benefit of salary increase.
One day's debate will be cut from salary hike
The petitioner said that he gets the benefit of salary increase during his entire service period and when the time of retirement comes, he is denied the salary increase by disputing one day. A single bench of the High Court had ordered the Punjab government that if the date of retirement is one year from the date of his last increment, the employee is entitled to the annual increment payable on that date.
The increase due to the order of the High Court has had a direct impact on the retirement benefits of the employees. In 2022, the Punjab Government filed an appeal in the Division Bench against this decision of the Single Bench. On Tuesday, the High Court rejected the appeal of the Punjab government and accepted the order of the single bench.
This way you will get benefit
If a person retired on March 31, 2024 and got his last increment in March 2023, he will be eligible for the annual increment on April 1, 2024.
