To get four times the income from the peppermint crop which is ready in 100 days, farmers have also planted it in their fields. Farmers in many villages of Sarila, Gohand and Rath areas in Hamirpur district of Bundelkhand have been facing the brunt of natural disaster for the last several years. Farmers, who suffer huge losses every year in traditional farming, have therefore taken steps towards cultivating low-cost crops. This time the farmers here have started preparing for the cultivation of peppermint. Its cultivation at low cost will change the fortunes of the farmers here. Progressive farmers Rajendra Singh of Gohani Rath and Raghuveer Singh of Chilli Rath said that peppermint cultivation starts from the last month of February, but this time the continuous rains and hailstorms in the months of January and February have given a big blow to the Rabi crops. .
He told that after somehow preparing the pulse crops, planting for peppermint cultivation has now been started. Farmers say that loamy and clay soil is very suitable for peppermint cultivation. Adding rotten cow dung manure is very beneficial. After applying fertilizer, the field has been leveled for planting by compacting it. After this, light watering will be given in the field. District Horticulture Officer Rameshchandra Pathak said that peppermint is being cultivated in abundance by farmers in Gohand area of Hamirpur district. Farmers are cultivating it in Chitrakoot area of Bundelkhand region. Told that peppermint cultivation will definitely change the fortunes of the farmers.

Peppermint crop is ready in the fields by the month of June. About fifteen kilograms of peppermint oil is produced in one bigha field. Its oil is sold for one thousand to sixteen hundred rupees per liter. Farmers told that one acre costs twenty to twenty-five thousand rupees but the profit is up to one lakh rupees. After the Rabi harvest, the fields here remain empty in summer anyway.
