Araria, 08 April (HS). On Monday, the last day of enrollment in Graduation Part One of Jeera Devi Sheetal Sah Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Farbisganj, girl students and representatives of various student organizations complained about suddenly being charged Rs 500 instead of Rs 300. Created a huge uproar.
On Monday, the girl students created a ruckus and raised slogans against the college management in protest against taking an extra Rs 200 in the name of development fee. Later, on the instructions of SDM Shailja Pandey, CO Rakhi Kumari and BEO Surya Prasad Yadav reached the college and stopped the creating ruckus. Calmed him down and talked to the college management and ordered him to enroll after taking the pre-determined fee of Rs 300.
In this matter, college students Seema Kumari, Lakshmi Kumari, Swati Kumari, Pooja Kumari, Nisha Kumari, Sa Khatoon etc. told that today is the last day of enrollment in graduation. On Saturday, in the name of enrollment, Rs. 350 were collected. Earlier, Rs 50 more was being charged. Whereas today suddenly nominations are being taken for Rs 500. Whereas the cost of prospectus form is Rs 200 and Rs 100 is charged for enrolment. Bihar government has started charging Rs 500 for SC/ST. Also, enrollment and teaching fees are free for girl students. The angry students said that the college management is acting arbitrarily. When enrollment was done by taking Rs 300 till Saturday, then why is Rs 500 being taken on the last day on Monday.
In this matter, the principal in-charge of the college, Omprakash Kumar, said that a meeting of the governing body of the college was held on Sunday, April 7. In which it was decided that Rs. 200 will be collected from the girl students in the name of development fee for building, library and laboratory etc. An additional fee should be charged and in this light, Rs 500 is being charged for enrollment from today onwards. However, the Principal in-charge also termed the demand of the girl students as justified in view of the protest.
After the uproar by the girl students, Forbesganj CO Rakhi Kumari and BEO Surya Prasad Yadav reached the college on the instructions of the SDM and talked to the representatives of the girl students as well as the college management. CO Rakhi Kumari said that no written rules have been shown regarding the amount increased by the college management. In this matter, she talked about giving information to the SDM and formation of an inquiry committee to investigate the matter. When the college management did not show any documents related to the meeting, an order was given to enroll along with the previously fixed amount of Rs 300. BEO Surya Prasad Yadav, present on the spot, talked about giving information about the entire matter to the SDM. After investigation, he said that action would be taken against the guilty college management employees.
