There is an uproar in the politics of Uttar Pradesh regarding the case of alleged misappropriation of offerings and donations in the grand Ram temple of Ayodhya. The opposition was continuously putting the central and state governments in the dock regarding this sensitive issue. Seeing the growing controversy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had entrusted the responsibility of investigating the matter in depth to the Special Investigation Team (SIT). A big update has come in this matter today (June 23, 2026). The SIT has submitted its preliminary investigation report to the state government, after which there has been a stir in the administrative corridors and the temple management.
3 member team submitted report to Home Department, there may be shocking revelations
According to the information received, the 3-member Special Investigation Team has submitted its initial report to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) of Uttar Pradesh Sanjay Prasad. This detailed report includes complete details of the ongoing investigation and documentary evidence over the past several days. Lucknow Division Commissioner and SIT Chairman Vijay Vishwas Pant, along with the other two members of the team, submitted this report to the government. Talking to the media, Pant said that the report has been submitted, but it is a preliminary and highly confidential report, hence nothing can be said publicly about its results at the moment. However, sources claim that on the basis of this report, names of many influential people may soon come to light.
Serious questions raised on internal arrangements and monitoring of donations
According to the news coming from departmental sources, the SIT in its report has raised very serious questions on the system of counting and monitoring the donations coming to the Ram temple. The report also mentions on what basis the employees counting the offerings were selected and what were their relations with the officials of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. If sources are to be believed, the investigation team has immediately registered an FIR against some of the guilty employees and recommended legal prosecution. Along with this, the role of some big officials handling the internal arrangements of the temple has also been considered suspicious.
Complete raw log of interrogation of 150 people in 150 page report
According to sources, this preliminary report is of about 150 pages, in which complete details of the strict interrogation of about 150 persons and sevadars associated with the temple are recorded. The most shocking thing is that considering the seriousness of the case, the SIT has made a strong recommendation for the reconstitution of the Ram Mandir Trust. The team suggests that the government should appoint a senior administrative officer (IAS level) as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the day-to-day functioning and administrative transparency of the temple. Apart from this, the SIT has also asked for a forensic audit of all the donations received by the temple from India and abroad in the last 5 years.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will take the final decision, investigation will continue
It has been clarified by the Uttar Pradesh government that this is not the final report of the SIT, but the investigation process is still ongoing. The SIT has demanded some more time and supporting officers from the government to get to the bottom of this entire scam. The report has suggested several strict measures to prevent any such irregularities in future, including transparent recruitment of employees and strengthening administrative surveillance. Now the final decision on what further legal action will be taken in this very sensitive matter, what changes will be made in the trust and who will be punished – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will take the final decision on this.
