He has crossed the entire length of South Africa while running and is the first person to run across the length of Africa. During this period he has collected a huge amount for charity.
27 year old Russ Cook of Britain has traveled to about 16 countries while running, during which he covered a distance of 16 thousand kilometers. His journey completed on 7 April and many of his supporters also gathered on the last day of the marathon. Cook started his journey in April 2023 from the village of El Agulhas in South Africa, the southernmost point of Africa, and finished in Tunisia. Cook crossed these 16 countries in 352 days. During a trip to South Africa, Cook was robbed at gunpoint and also suffered food poisoning.
Cook has collected charity money of more than Rs 6 crore 31 lakh through the marathon. During his journey, Cook passed through Namibia, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania and Algeria. After completing his race, Cook posted his achievement on his social media platforms, writing that he became the first person to run the entire length of Africa, his mission accomplished.
Cook has collected all this money from a charity platform named Give Star for two different charities. Simon Klima of the Give Star charity platform, while speaking to the media, said that the real meaning of 'Hardest Geezer' is to challenge yourself and do something incredible. Before completing the target, Cook had invited people by sending a message on his social media platform on the last day, after which a large number of people gathered, many people also came from other countries in support of Cook. While running, everyone was encouraging him by saying 'Geyser, Geyser'.
One of his American supporters said he was relaxing at his home when he read Cook's post, adding that he thought he could not miss this historic occasion. Cook was wearing an England football jersey during his race, and after finishing the race, Cook told the media that he was too tired to enjoy a well-earned strawberry daiquiri.
